For safety reasons, all student backpacks will have a transportation tag attached to the outside of it at the start of each year. Please do not remove. Tags are needed throughout the school year.

Please notify the school office of any changes in your child’s transportation before 2:30, so we can make sure the teacher and your child are notified. Please do not leave voice messages or emails about transportation changes. You need to speak directly to a secretary when making changes to procedures. We cannot accept information as to pick up and bus changes from students; we need adult confirmation. *Parents should park their cars in legal parking spots if they want to get out of their cars and come into the building. (No parking in the bus area or fire lane).

*All students must have a written note or a phone call to the secretary when their after school plans are different from their usual routine.  (Email and Parent Square messages to the office can be sent, but families are responsible to make sure that you have received confirmation of the change by 2:30) 

 

Discovery Primary - Start of the Day Drop Off Procedures

9:05 - 9:15 (10:05-10:15 Mondays)

Families driving up

• Enter from the South coming from Oak Street.
• Drive up to an open gate (noted on map by a yellow dot). Please do not stop at the first gate, pull forward to the last open gate.  
• Students will need to get out from the driver’s side backseat. Students are not allowed to get out of the car on the other side for safety reasons.  A staff member will assist as needed.
• If you need to unbuckle your child, please park in a stall and walk with them to the family walk up location.
• Follow the arrows around and exit at the North entrance. You can exit to the left or the right. Please be courteous and allow cars to cross to enter the south entrance.  

Families walking up 

• Park in a designated parking stall.
• Walk with your child to the family walk up location.
• Please use all crosswalks and sidewalks. 

 

Families with a child in Pathfinders

• Please follow the drive up procedures and enter the parking lot in the same manner. If you need to unbuckle your child, please park in a stall and walk with them to the family walk up location.

Students are to be in their classrooms by 9:20.

Discovery Primary - End of the Day Pick Up Procedures

3:30  (12:25 Early Release days)

Families driving up

• Please have your “visor” (Student name & grade sign) visible. This will speed up the process.  (A visor is provided at the beginning of each year 
• Enter from the South coming from Oak Street.
• Drive up to an open gate (noted on map by a yellow dot). Please do not stop at the first gate, pull forward to the last open gate.  
• Students will need to be loaded into the driver’s backseat. Students are not allowed to get in the car on the other side for safety reasons. 
• If you need to buckle your child,  please pull forward to the buckle zone or park in a stall.
• Follow the arrows around and exit at the North entrance. You can exit to the left or the right. Please be courteous and allow cars to cross to enter the south entrance.  

 

Families walking up 

• Park in a designated parking stall.
• Please walk up and wait in a single file line under the covered area (orange line). 
• Students will be released one at a time to ensure safety. The next student won’t be sent until the previous student is with their grown-up. 
• Please use all crosswalks and sidewalks. 

 

Families with a child in Pathfinders

• Please follow the drive up procedures and enter the parking lot in the same manner.
• Follow the same route and show the staff at the pick up gates your “visor” (Student name & grade sign.) The staff will then radio for your child. 
• Pull up to the buckle zone to load and buckle your child. 

Please be on time! If you not here within 15 minutes of the end of the day, your student will be taken to the office and families called.

 

OBEY THE RULES OF THE ROAD: Please drive slowly and safely. Do not pass other cars. This increases the risk of accidents.

SPEED LIMIT: Please obey the speed limit signs.

CROSSWALKS: Please model the use of crosswalks. This is the SAFEST place for all of us to cross, especially when there is not a crossing guard outside. When there is a crossing guard, cross only when the crossing guard is helping you.

SCHOOL PERSONNEL: Please respect the School Personnel that are out at the crosswalks and parking lot. They care for you and your children, and want to keep everyone safe.

CELL PHONES: It is illegal to use cell phones while driving. Please refrain from using cell phones while dropping off or picking up children.

PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF SCHOOL: This area is for Buses only between the hours of 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. and 3:15 – 3:50 p.m. Walking between buses is prohibited.

SOUTH PARKING LOT (side of school): This is where the parent drop off/pick up area is located. See procedures below. Please do not leave your car in the drop off/pick up area.
