Assistant Principal

My name is Mary Mahoney and I am very excited about my new position as Assistant Principal. This journey began when I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Elementary Education and an Endorsement in English as a Second Language. My first teaching position was 8th grade Language Arts, in Arizona. I immediately began work on my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and obtained a principal certification through Northern Arizona University. I then moved back to Puyallup where I grew up and my family resides. I began teaching for the Fife School District at Discovery Primary School as the English as a Second Language Specialist. Although I love being in the classroom, I also wanted to continue to grow as a leader and could not pass up the opportunity to continue to grow professionally and still work with children. I am very excited for this new role and position as Assistant Principal and the 2014-2015 school year. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling. I have spent a summer in Europe and another summer in Ecuador, living in the rainforest, what an experience! If I am not travelling, I am reading or playing outside (running, cycling, hiking, and the list goes on and on).
